Pausing & Travel

1.Pausing - Sometimes the most powerful move isn’t pushing harder—it’s pausing.
In a world that glorifies hustle, stopping to breathe, reflect, and recalibrate can feel counterintuitive. Yet it’s in the pause that clarity emerges, creativity flows, and resilience strengthens.
A pause doesn’t mean giving up—it means giving yourself space to choose your next step with intention. 🌿
So today, I invite you to pause. Close your eyes, take a breath, and remember: you don’t always have to run to move forward.

2. Travel – Staying Well on the Go
Our long-awaited trip to Italy & Greece begins next week, and while adventure is calling, I know how important it is to stay well so I don’t miss a moment. Here are a few of my favourite travel wellness tips to make the journey smoother:
✨ Pack a large soft scarf – It doubles as a blanket or neck roll on the plane and even works as a cozy wrap in the evenings.
💧 Bring an empty refillable water bottle – Most airports have filling stations, and staying hydrated is key.
🥨 Carry snacks – My go-to homemade mix is golden raisins, dried cherries, mini chocolate chips, and almonds. (Pro tip: eat your food before landing—customs rules apply!)
🧘‍♀️ Move your body – On bathroom breaks, I add in toe raises, ankle rolls, and a quick stretch routine.
🛁 Epsom salts to go – A small ziplock bag makes it easy to unwind with a restorative soak.
🧳 Unpack when you arrive – If it’s more than a two-day stay, it helps you feel grounded and settled.
🌅 Soak it all in – Pause, breathe, and savour the air, views, and atmosphere. Notice the glimmers of joy all around you.
Travel isn’t just about the destination—it’s about how present and energized we feel along the way. 💕

Dance, Isometrics & Weights

1. ✨ Dance Your Way to Wellness ✨
Movement is one of the most powerful ways to support both body and mind. But let’s be honest—if the word exercise makes you want to curl up on the couch, try dancing instead. 💃🕺
Dancing doesn’t just feel good—it is good for you. It:
  • Improves circulation and heart health ❤️
  • Sharpens focus and concentration 🧠
  • Reduces stress and anxiety 🌿
  • Releases negative emotions 💨
  • Sparks joy and self-expression 🎶
When the music plays, your brain lights up. Dancing activates your sensory and motor circuits, stimulates your brain’s reward centre, and even helps grow new neural connections. In other words—every step is a step toward healing and vitality.
So put on your favorite song, let go of perfection, and just move. Your body, mind, and soul will thank you. ✨

2. 💪 Isometric Exercise & Weight Training for Women 50+
Strength training isn’t just for athletes—it’s one of the best things women over 50 can do for long-term health.
✨ Isometric exercises (like planks, wall sits, or pressing palms together) build strength and stability without joint strain. They’re especially helpful for maintaining muscle tone and protecting against injury.
✨ Weight training adds another layer of benefits:
  • 🔹 Preserves muscle mass (which naturally declines with age)
  • 🔹 Boosts bone density, reducing osteoporosis risk
  • 🔹 Improves balance and coordination
  • 🔹 Increases metabolism and supports healthy weight
  • 🔹 Enhances confidence and daily energy
The combination of stillness (isometrics) and resistance (weights) creates a powerful recipe for aging strong, vibrant, and independent. 🌟

Strong isn’t about lifting the heaviest weight—it’s about lifting yourself up to live well.

Silence & Relationships

1.Silence
"Silence isn’t empty — it’s full of answers."
This powerful quote, though often attributed to various sources, resonates deeply with many. Silence isn't just the absence of sound — it’s a space for discovery, clarity, and connection. Here’s what it can mean:
🌿 Self-reflection
In silence, we step away from the noise of the world and tune inwards. It’s in these quiet moments that we often find clarity, insight, and the answers we’ve been searching for.
👂 Active Listening
When we listen without interrupting or rushing to respond, we give others the space to process, reflect, and sometimes uncover their own solutions. Silence can be a powerful form of support.
🍃 Nature’s Wisdom
Silence in nature teaches us to observe, feel, and reconnect. The stillness of the natural world speaks volumes — if we take the time to listen.
🧘 Spiritual Contemplation
Many spiritual traditions embrace silence as a path to deeper understanding. Whether through meditation, prayer, or mindfulness, silence can open doors to inner peace and greater awareness.
In a world filled with constant noise and distraction, silence invites us to pause, reflect, and realign. Sometimes, the most profound answers are found not in speaking — but in listening.  I was lucky enough to spend some time reflecting and listening to the river run this past week.  I found joy in the quiet moments in between the laughter and "I'm hungry" from my grandkids.  My hear is full.

2. Relationships
“The world is full of nice people. If you can’t find one — be one.” – Rumi 💛
Relationships are the heart of our human experience. But let’s be honest — when you're not feeling your best, it can be hard to seek out joy in others. We often unconsciously gravitate toward people who mirror our own energy — even when it’s low. Misery really does love company sometimes.
But here’s the truth:
When you’re feeling down, that’s exactly when you need to be around people who lift you up. Those who radiate joy, presence, and positivity can help shift your energy. Joy is contagious — and being in the presence of someone who’s tapped into their light helps you reconnect with your own. 🌟
When you nurture those “glimmers” — those small moments of joy, connection, and awe — you start to raise your vibration. And when you're living in that energy, you naturally attract more of it. That’s the version of you that shines in relationships — the one that loves, supports, and uplifts.
I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships I’ve had for over a decade (some over 40 years!). I know, without a doubt, that these people are there for me — just as I am for them.
Of course, sometimes life calls for a fresh start — moving to a new place or stepping into a new phase. Building new connections can feel like hard work at first, but it’s always worth it. 💬💕
We all need people — someone to laugh with, to cry with, to share a coffee and a hug. During my recent “rest” period, I had the chance to reconnect with two friends who always bring me joy. One was a planned overnight on our way home from the mountains, the other a beautiful coincidence in the Crowsnest Pass. My friend Kathy and I hadn’t seen each other in years, but we picked up right where we left off — two hours of coffee, laughter, photos, and deep connection. And if you are in Spokane make sure you check out Torra Tea her new restaurant.
Be the kind of friend you’re searching for. Show up with joy. And always make time for connection — especially when life feels heavy. ✨

Joy & Rest

1. Joy is happiness with a purpose.
Happiness often shows up in fleeting moments—laughing with a friend, accomplishing a goal, hearing good news. It’s beautiful, but temporary.
Joy runs deeper.
Joy isn’t just about what happens to us. It’s rooted in who we are, what we value, and how we find meaning in the everyday. It’s a steady inner current, not a passing wave.
When our happiness aligns with purpose—our why—it transforms into something more enduring.
And here’s the part I hold onto most:
👉 Joy is a choice.
Not in the sense that we ignore hardship or push away pain—but in how we show up, again and again. Choosing joy means:
  • Practicing gratitude
  • Cultivating a resilient mindset
  • Honoring what lights us up
  • Seeking what’s meaningful, even in small moments
Of course, in times of trauma or deep grief, joy may feel distant. And that’s okay. In those times, support—from loved ones, community, or professionals—can guide us gently back to ourselves.
Joy is a practice. Joy is possible.

2. Rest is not a reward. It's a requirement.
I constantly need to remind myself of this one!  We live in a culture that praises hustle and glorifies burnout. But the truth is--rest is not a sign of weakness. It's a powerful tool for clarity, creativity, and resilience.
Rest isn’t just sleep (although quality sleep is vital).
Rest is also:
  • Taking a pause between meetings to breathe
  • Saying no to preserve your energy
  • Going for a walk without your phone
  • Laughing with someone you love
  • Giving yourself permission to do nothing without guilt
  • And this week it is heading to my Uncle’s Cabin in BC where there is no cell phone coverage!
When we rest, we reconnect with ourselves.
We regulate our nervous system.
We come back to our values.
We restore our energy so we can lead, serve, and create with purpose.
You don’t have to earn your rest.
You just have to honor your humanity.
Today, give yourself the gift of rest—whatever that looks like for you.
You are allowed to slow down.  I’m off to pack up and rest by the river.
